Is this really free?
Yes. The web tools are free and need no signup — they run 100% in your browser, nothing is uploaded, and there's no account to create. (The API is a separate paid product for programmatic conversion.)
Are my subtitle files uploaded anywhere?
Not by the free tools. Conversion runs locally via a Web Worker, so your files never leave your device — open the network tab if you want proof. The API sends files to our servers over HTTPS by design.
How many files can I convert at once?
Up to 10 per batch on the web. Converted files can be downloaded individually or all at once as a single .zip.
What's the difference between SRT and WebVTT?
SRT is the de facto SubRip format (comma milliseconds). WebVTT is the W3C standard for HTML5 video — browsers render it natively through the <track> element.
Why do I need WebVTT?
If you want captions in a native HTML5 <video> player — or upload captions to YouTube or Vimeo — you need WebVTT. Converting SRT to VTT is the one-line fix.
